Create subtitles automatically

Upload a video (MP4, MOV, WebM) or its audio track and get ready-made subtitle files with timecodes. Upload them straight to YouTube, Vimeo, Moodle or your video editor.

Free trial: 3 transcriptions per calendar month, each up to 10 minutes, no account — as plain text. Speaker separation (“who said what”) and files up to 4 hours are part of the paid offerings: day pass €2.99, credit €4.99, Pro €8.99/month.

Upload a video

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Upload video or audio

MP4, MOV or WebM up to 100 MB. For large videos, the audio track as M4A or MP3 is enough.

  2. Step 2

    Check the transcript

Read it in the browser and replay passages with names or technical terms at the timestamp.

  3. Step 3

    Download SRT or VTT

SRT for YouTube and most editors, VTT for web players and learning platforms.

What you get

SRT and WebVTT

The two most common formats, with millisecond timecodes.

Speaker names if you want

With a plan, you can put “Speaker 1:” in front of each line — useful for interviews and panels.

About 100 languages

Subtitles in the video's original language — English, Turkish, Arabic, Polish and more.

Accessibility

Subtitles help deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers — and everyone watching with the sound off.

At a glance

  • Each recognized passage becomes one subtitle. Long sentences make long subtitles; for broadcast standards (e.g. 42 characters per line), shorten them in an editor like Subtitle Edit or Aegisub.
  • Subtitles are in the spoken language; translation is not included.
  • Paid plans extract the audio on our server. Video preview expires after one hour and the video is deleted; your encrypted transcript stays in your account.
  • Free trial without an account or login; plans from €2.99 one-off, no subscription required.
  • Technical anti-abuse protection: currently up to five transcription starts per hour and files up to 100 MiB.
  • Processed via OpenRouter with zero data retention: the AI providers store neither audio nor text; Sprechverlauf deletes audio files after processing and keeps transcripts only for signed-in users — encrypted.
  • Premium: upload videos (MP4, MOV, WebM, up to 100 MiB), name speakers and review subtitles before exporting SRT or VTT.
  • The video is deleted from our server one hour after upload. Your encrypted transcript stays in your account until you delete it. Only the extracted audio is sent for transcription.

Frequently asked questions

How do I upload the SRT file to YouTube?+

In YouTube Studio, open the video, choose Subtitles, add a language, then “Upload file” and “With timing”. Select the SRT file — done.

What is the difference between SRT and VTT?+

Hardly any in content. SRT is the older, universally known format; VTT (WebVTT) is the standard for HTML5 video players and learning platforms.

My video is larger than 100 MB.+

Export only the audio, for example as M4A — the timecodes stay the same because sound and picture share one timeline.

Are the subtitles error-free?+

No automatic recognition is. With clear speech, most lines are right; check names and technical terms before publishing.

Do I need an account or a subscription?+

Not for the free trial. You only need an account to buy a plan (day pass, credit or Pro) — a subscription is never required. Technical anti-abuse limits apply.

How long is processing data retained?+

Recognition runs through OpenRouter with zero data retention — the providers (Microsoft Azure, DeepInfra, Groq) store neither audio nor text. Sprechverlauf deletes uploaded audio files after processing, at the latest after two hours, and keeps the transcript in memory for at most two hours. Only signed-in users get an encrypted copy in their account, which they can delete at any time.
